What data we collect

When you use FirstCut Studio, we collect the following information:

• Account information: Your name, email address, and profile picture provided through Google OAuth sign-in.
• Uploaded videos: Video files you upload for processing, along with associated metadata (file name, size, duration, format).
• Usage analytics: Page views and feature usage collected through Google Analytics 4 (when enabled) to improve the service.
• Product analytics (PostHog): We use PostHog (EU region) to understand how the product is used and improve it. Before you make a cookie choice, PostHog runs in a cookieless mode (no cookies or other storage on your device) and captures only anonymous usage — page views and interactions, with all text you type masked. We do not link this to your identity or record your screen before you consent. This anonymous, storage-free analytics relies on our legitimate interest in operating and improving the service. If you accept cookies, PostHog additionally associates activity with your account and may record session replays (with inputs masked) to diagnose usability issues. You can object at any time: choosing Decline on the cookie banner stops all capture and removes PostHog's stored identifiers (see “Cookies and tracking” below for how to bring the banner back).

How we process videos

Your uploaded video footage is processed using Google Gemini AI for scene analysis, quality grading, and content classification. Processed clips and rendered highlight reels are stored in Cloudflare R2 object storage. Video data is used solely to provide the editing service and is not used for AI model training.

Third-party services

FirstCut Studio relies on the following third-party services:

• Google OAuth: Authentication and account creation. We receive your name, email, and profile picture.
• Cloudflare R2: Secure cloud storage for uploaded videos, processed clips, and rendered highlight reels.
• Google Gemini: AI-powered video analysis including scene detection, quality grading, and content classification.

Data retention and deletion

You can delete individual assets and rendered highlight reels at any time from your library. Deleted files are permanently removed from cloud storage. To request full account deletion including all associated data, contact us at the email address below.

Cookies and tracking

FirstCut Studio uses the following cookies and tracking mechanisms:

• Session cookies: Auth.js httpOnly session cookies for authentication. These are essential for the service to function.
• Analytics: Google Analytics 4 cookies (when enabled) are only set after you give explicit consent via our cookie banner. PostHog product analytics runs in a cookieless, anonymous mode before consent (no cookies or device storage, typed input masked, not linked to your identity); accepting cookies additionally enables a persistent PostHog cookie and session replay. You can withdraw consent at any time, which removes these cookies and stops capture.
• Attribution: a first-party cookie (fc_attr) remembers how you found us (the referring site and campaign parameters from your first visit). It is used only for internal channel analytics, is never shared with third parties, and expires after 30 days.

You can change your cookie preferences at any time by deleting the cookie-consent entry from your browser's local storage and reloading — the consent banner reappears. Choosing Decline then stops all PostHog capture and removes its stored identifiers; until you make a choice, PostHog runs only in the anonymous, cookieless mode described above.
